Everyone seems to be telling us what to do anymore. Drink more water, walk 10,000 steps a day, don’t paint your walls grey, you should eat for your blood type, dress for your body type, feel bad for not doing any of it or feel bad for doing all of it!
I don’t know about you, but I just couldn’t keep up. So I gave up the rules.
I was talking with a good friend of mine Leslie about how conflicted I feel all the time. I’m supposed to eat healthy and work out but still feel beautiful in my ‘own natural skin’. I shouldn’t have to get dressed up to feel confident, so does that mean I shouldn’t want to?
How am I supposed to be beautiful from the inside out?
In a world where everyone has been following these cookie cutter molds I’ve been slowly trying to peel them away. It’s not something that can be done cold turkey. It’s a huge undertaking. It’s a process I didn’t even realize I was getting into until I got into it and well, here I am! Over a year later and I feel like I just want to keep taking on the world! It’s kind of an amazing feeling! And we want you to have that amazing feeling with us! That’s why Leslie and I are teaming up to bring you something fantastic. Before I get to that, I want to tell you a little bit more about who we are!
My friend Leslie is an Image Consultant who works with people on their personal branding. She’s done everything from designing clothing, managing clothing stores, and putting on fashion events. Working with clients one-on-one, she sees everyday that your appearance can have a huge effect on how others perceive you and how you think of yourself. Leslie uses this to help women figure out who they want to be and then visually turn them into their own muses.
As a photographer for years I have been honored to be part of the most exciting moments in clients’ lives: weddings, pregnancy, new additions to the family! And almost every time I would hear “make me not look fat, make sure I don’t look ugly” and it broke my heart! Instead of just being happy in the moment they were worried about how they looked. As a women who faced the same issues, I decided to start helping others (and myself) find balance in life and start to feel more beautiful and healthy!
It’s funny because we’re both tackling a similar issue but from two different perspectives. We both want women to feel like the most beautiful version of themselves. I work with clients on nutrition, fitness, and overall wellness. Leslie works with clients to improve their appearance to enhance their lives. Two sides of the same coin!
We’ve had tons of conversations about this throughout our friendship. We debate where we think the lines are. What is the difference between being healthy and focusing on getting to a goal weight? When does dressing to feel amazing turn into keeping up a standard for others. It’s a huge grey area AND the answer is different for everyone.
We realized this is a topic that separately is tackled all the time but we got really excited about sharing our debates with our combined audience!
We decided to create a series to discuss feeling beautiful from the inside out! We have a number of topics we’re super excited to tackle. We’re going to blog together through the series and also do facebook live events to discuss and take questions from YOU. We’re really looking forward to hearing other opinions on the topics as well so we’re inviting everyone to ask questions, post comments, and propose topics they’d love us to discuss from both of our perspectives!
Being a women can be challenging sometimes. We’re under so much pressure to be perfect all the time and it’s impossible. We bend until we break and then after we pick up the pieces from the spiral we go right back at the the same way. Einstein describes insanity as attacking a problem the same way over and over and expecting different results. Leslie and I are here to shatter the stereotypes help you find the right balance for you!
We’re so excited to start this journey together to share with you!
