I just got back from a run.  It’s 8:00 at night, I just got back, and I’m sweating profusely.  It’s high 80s and humid out.  It’s absolutely insane.  I can tell I did not hydrate enough today, or yesterday, or the day before.

Did you realize that water doesn’t absorb into your system immediately?  Chugging water right before a run won’t save you.  If you are not hydrating every single day, you can’t just drink a bunch of water to catch up.

Especially in these hot summer months, the heat, and lack of proper hydration can cause major havoc on your body.

  • cramps
  • headaches
  • nausea
  • injuries

Heat is a serious thing. Dehydration is a serious problem. Don’t get caught up in it!

Electrolytes and potassium are vital to help you recover and hydrate.  Bananas and coconut water are great for this.  It helps your body recover faster and more efficiently than water alone.   I use a minerals and antioxidant drink instead of sugar-packed Gatorade. Coconut and aloe water have kept nasty calf cramps away!
