I know a lot of people who do the lemon detox diet. I tried it once and I felt horrible. I felt like I was starving my body.
That’s why I love Pressed Juicery’s cleanses (there are other companies that are very similar to PJ, I’m just personally a fan of PJ). You can choose one, three, or five day cleanses. I do three days, because it’s the most manageable from a hunger and monetary standpoint.
I wanted to share an example healthy three day cleanse. Each juice is 16 ounces:
- Juice 1: kale, spinach, romaine, parsley, cucumber, celery, apple, lemon, ginger
- 140 calories, 2 gram protein, 4 grams fiber
- Juice 2: pineapple, apple, lemon, mint
- 240 calories, 2 gram protein, 4 grams fiber
- Juice 3: spinach, romaine, fennel, cilantro, orange, pineapple
- 200 calories, 2 gram protein, 2 gram fiber
- Juice 4: beet, apple, lemon, ginger
- 200 calories, 2 gram protein, 4 grams fiber
- Juice 5: kale, spinach, romaine, parsley, cucumber, celery, lemon, sea salt
- 60 calories, 2 gram protein, 2 gram fiber
- Juice 6: almonds, dates, vanilla bean, sea salt
- 420 calories, 12 grams protein, 10 grams fiber
- Optional Juice 7: chlorophyll water (drink throughout the day)
- 0 calories, 0 grams protein, 0 grams fiber
- Optional Juice 8: aloe vera water (drink before bed)
- 0 calories, 0 grams protein, 0 grams fiber
On this cleanse, you consume 1260 calories each day, 22 grams protein, 26 grams fiber. To everyone that told me I’m starving my body, and a cleanse is terrible for you, I offer you this quick chart. My body was nourished with more nutrients in this past three days than I probably ate in the last three weeks. Like I’ve said in previous posts, this isn’t for everyone. But I love them and will continue to do them!
